How to maintain the motor of electric motor pellet mill?
Usually, the motor maintenance should pay attention to the following points.
- Keep the motor clean, no dust.
- Often check the appearance of the motor to find if there is a misplaced part.
- Check the bearings regularly for replacement or refueling, also check the connecting plug at the incoming line.
- When the electric motor pellet mill works, pay attention to the working environment, don't let the motor in a too bumpy state, in order to prevent the motor damage or reduce the service life.
- Check the appearance of the electric motor pellet mill, whether the fan is working properly, whether there is an abnormal vibration, whether the connection of coupling is reliable, whether the base is fixed firmly, whether the bearing works well (listen to the sound), whether the temperature is normal (Infrared temperature instrument), whether the electric current is normal(Clamp type ammeter).
- The winding motor must check the carbon brush and slip ring.
If an exception occurs, it is necessary to quickly repair the motor, otherwise, too much has been lost when the situation become more serious.

There are five steps to maintain the motor: Look, Listen, Touch, Measure, Do. Most of the faults can be prevented and avoided as long as the owner of electric motor pellet mill insists on these five steps, and the cost of spare parts and maintenance will also be reduced. Now I will introduce the five steps for routine inspection and maintenance of wood pellets mill motor.
Look
In daily inspection, not only the electric motor pellet mill inspector, but also the person on duty and fuel man need to check the motor working situation and the change of electric current. See if there is water leakage or dripping around it, which will lead to low insulation of motor, spark-over and burn out. Also check whether the outside of the motor has an influence on its ventilation and cooling environment, in order to ensure the cooling and heat dissipation effect. Whoever finds the problem should deal with promptly.
Listen
Carefully listen to whether the motor running sound is abnormal, if the workshop noise is large, with the aid of screwdriver or hearing stick. Attach the ear to the motor position of the electric motor pellet mill and listen carefully, if you often listen, not only can find the abnormal vibration of the motor and other parts, and even the quantity of internal bearing oil can be judged, so as to timely add bearing oil, or replace the new bearings and other measures to deal with, avoid motor bearing oil loss, dry grinding and blocking rotation, go outside circle, sweep chamber burned.
Touch
Touch the temperature around the motor with the back of your hand, or check with temperature gun. When the bearing is in good condition, the temperature at both ends will be lower than the temperature of the middle winding section. If the temperature at both ends of the bearing is higher, the bearing must be checked according to the bearing sound condition. If the overall temperature of the motor is too high, the worker should combine the work current to check the motor load, equipment and ventilation and so on, and deal with the faulty accordingly.
According to the insulation grade of the insulation material used in the motor, we can confirm the limit temperature of the winding insulation for long time use during motor operation, or the permissible temperature rise of the motor(the actual temperature of the motor minus the ambient temperature). There are some differences in the standards of insulation grade in different countries, but they are basically divided into Y, A, E, B, F, H and C, among them, the allowed temperature rise of grade Y is the lowest (45℃), and the allowed temperature rise of grade C is the highest(more than 135℃). Considering the bearing oil and other materials, it is better to control the temperature of the motor under 85℃ when measure the temperature of the electric motor with a thermometer.
Measure
When the electric motor pellet mill stops working, workers should often use the insulation meter to measure the insulation resistance of each phase. If there is a problem, bake with a tide lamp to increase insulation, in order to avoid breakdown motor caused by too low insulation(recommended value >1 MB). In wet weather and winter, pay special attention to the waterproof, moisture-proof and drying of the motor. If necessary, the motor of electric pellet mill should be covered canvas to protect the insulation, but when the electric motor pellet mill is used in hot weather or for a long time, the canvas cover should be removed, in order to prevent the motor from being burned out because the heat losing is blocked. If there is water in the motor, you need to take the electric motor apart and take out the rotor, rinse repeatedly with hot freshwater at 60-70℃, and dry it with compressed air, then bake the lamp from both ends of the motor stator until the motor insulation rises to normal.

If you want to use our wood pellets making machine in a hot temperature, you can choose electric pellet mill without enclosure, by contraries, if your use environment is often cold, the pellet mill with enclosure may be better.

We should not only take remedial measures for the problems found in inspection, but also regularly disassemble, inspect, clean and maintain screws and fasteners of the electric motor pellet mill. As the electric motor pellet mill is driven by the motor, besides inspect the electric, we should also check and correct the axial lead of motor and the driven parts. And It should be light and flexible when rotating the coupling by hand. Only by doing every step carefully and carefully can we improve the production rate of electric motor pellet mill.
