As we know, the growth and use of grass are limited by season and weather. Generally, grass get withered and lose nutrient content in winter, when livestock are short of grass feed. In contrast, grass grows vigorously during warm season, which is far more than animals’ needs. Grass pellet press can make full use of the grass grown in warm season. By means of clipping, sun-curing, crushing and conserving in the shape of grass pellets, they can be used in winter to feed animals.

Grass pellets mill processing technology

The key to process grass pellet is to adjust the water content. You should first measure the water content of raw materials, then add water to required level. According to determination, to make pellet with leguminous grass, the optimal water content is from 14% to 16%. Gramineous grass is recommended to have 13%-15% water content.

GEMCO flat die pellet mill is good at processing grass pellet. Under high pressure and stirring action, the hay pellets are heated up to 80℃ and come out through screen holes. When they are cooled to room temperature, the water content usually reduce to less than 11%-13%. Thanks to low water content, grass pellets are suitable for long-term preservation.
